There has been a gang spotted recently, mainly targeting the elderly for painful encounters. They have also been known to strike the injured and those who work at repetitive manual tasks. It is the Wrightus Clan; and the worst of them is Arthur (Arthur Wrightus).

Knees need Glucosamine chondroitin, and silicate.

Silicate is contained in steamed okra and bamboo shoots (raw and cooked). Lecithin will lubricate the joints.

Exercises that will help: knee circles and bending the inside as in lotus, and outside with heels outward and inside of leg on ground.

Ancient Chinese Exercise Relieves Knee Pain

American College of Rheumatology (ACR)

Newswise — Tai chi is effective in the treatment of pain and physical impairment in people with severe knee osteoarthritis, according to research presented this week at the American College of Rheumatology Annual Scientific Meeting in San Francisco, Calif.

Osteoarthritis, or OA as it is commonly called, is the most common joint disease affecting middle-age and older people. It is characterized by progressive damage to the joint cartilage—the slippery material at the end of long bones—and causes changes in the structures around the joint. These changes can include fluid accumulation, bony overgrowth, and loosening and weakness of muscles and tendons, all of which may limit movement and cause pain and swelling.

Osteoarthritis in the knee and hip areas can generate chronic pain or discomfort during standing or walking. According to the Centers for Disease Control, knee OA affects 240 people out of every 100,000 people per year.

Tai chi is an ancient Chinese exercise that uses an integrated mind-body approach to enhance muscle function, balance, and flexibility and has been known to reduce pain, depression and anxiety in those who practice the exercise.

Researchers set out to determine if tai chi could successfully treat the physical and mental effects of severe knee OA. A total of 40 patients were randomly chosen to participate in the study. On average they were 65 years old and moderately overweight, and had knee OA for approximately 10 years; 75 percent of the patients were female and 70 percent were Caucasian.

Participants were introduced to either tai chi (10 modified forms from the classical Yang style) or to conventional stretching and wellness education. Each group received the intervention twice-weekly for 60 minutes over the course of 12 weeks. Patients were evaluated with a self assessment questionnaire (WOMAC) that evaluates pain, stiffness and physical function in hips and knees at the beginning and end of the study.

Additionally, researchers studied WOMAC function, patient and physician global assessments, timed chair stand, balance tests, knee proprioception, depression, self-efficacy, and health-related quality of life. These assessments were also done at weeks 24 and 48 to determine how lasting each intervention was for the participants.

Attendance for the 12-week interventions was 85 percent in the tai chi group and 89 percent in the stretching and wellness group. Participants who took part in tai chi exhibited significantly greater improvements in pain, physical function, depression, self-effectiveness and health status. Patients who continued participating in tai chi after the 12-week intervention also reported long-lasting benefits in WOMAC pain and function.

These results lead investigators to believe that tai chi is effective in the treatment of the pain and physical impairments in people with severe knee OA. Chenchen Wang MD, MSc; Tufts Medical Center, Division of Rheumatology, and lead investigator in the study explains, "Tai chi mind-body exercise appears to provide an important approach for self-care and self-management for knee OA; however, these results should be confirmed by future large studies."

Acidosis; an over acid condition in the body, is a chemical cause of arthritis.

My favorite remedies are cherries and cherry juice. These will help the body rid itself of acids and take the bumps out of the knuckles. I have found that black cherries or juice straight, unmixed, first thing in the morning is the best. Take for 4 consecutive days, followed by 4 days off; then repeat. Black cherries clean the liver and bowels quickly also, so be warned.

Raw potatoes and turnips are great for acidosis. If potatoes are boiled, use the water as a soaking bath for hands and feet, to relieve stiffness in the joints.

Sage is helpful for both arthritis and rheumatism pain. Take 1 ounce sage (white preferable) to 1 1/2 pints water. Simmer together for 20 minutes and take 1/2 cup when needed.

Parsley tea helps reduce acidosis pain.
Use 1 quart boiling water and 1 cup packed parsley, steep together for 15 minutes, strain and refrigerate. Use 1/2 cup as needed for pain.

White grape juice helps absorb the acid in the system, drink 2-3 glasses daily.

Alfalfa helps to relieve pain form acidosis. Eat fresh sprouts daily, take tablets, or make tea with 1 teaspoon to 1 cup boiling water, drinking 2-3 cups daily.

Cod liver oil rubbed on the joints will help relax and strengthen them.

Make a tea of 1 cup of dried parsley per quart of boiling water, and drink ½ for pain as needed.

Lemons as well as black cherry juice; can provide relief in 2-48 hours. Drink water with fresh lemon juice taken as often as possible; 1/2 to three lemons per glass of water. Make sure to rinse teeth off afterward, so tooth enamel is not corroded by the lemon's citric acid.

One of the best breakfasts for you is started with diluted fresh lemon juice, which cleans your system. Wait for a half hour if possible, then follow this eating a easily digestible small seed or nut such as: sunflower seeds or sesame seed. Eat all you want. If you get hungry after this it is OK to eat or drink something else; even the dreaded coffee, sweets and starches. Whole grains and/or other nuts though, would be ideal and green tea or gotu cola for that jolt.

Gotu kola is mildly antibacterial, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, anti-ulcerogenic, anxiolytic, a cerebral tonic, a circulatory stimulant, a diuretic, nervine. In Thailand cups in the afternoon, gotu kola leaves place in cups, as a stimulant. The decoction of juice made from the leaves may relieve hypertension.

Arthritis Ointments

  • Wintergreen oil rubbed onto the joints will relieve stiffness;
  • Thuja: use twigs and leaves to make a salve;
  • Rosemary: use with 2 ounces beeswax and 1½ pound of lard; put in a large ceramic pot in a hot oven for 3 hours yielding a salve for arthritic pain.
White Flower Analgesic Balm contains wintergreen, menthol, camphor, eucalyptus, lavender and peppermint; it works on all the body's outer pain, even the back.

Gout Ointments

  • Plantain root: powdered or fresh: mixed with lard and spread onto a piece of leather and applied to the toes to draw out the acid;
  • Goutweed: 1 teaspoon per cup of boiling water applied to joints for pain;
  • Jasmine oil will relieve pain and swelling in the joints due to acidosis.

Soaking the affected area in Epsom Salts provies relief and helps relex the muscles.

Soaking affected area in Dit Daw Jow provides pain relief and helps your cirulation.

Chives help reduce acidity; relieving pain: eat in salad or drink as a tea.

The first sign of gout, in men, usually starts with pain in the big toe. Gout is a form of acidosis. Rotating big toe will provide some relief, start repetitions clockwise, then counter-clockwise. Good to practice kneeling with toe bent backward.

Arthritis Chemical Cause

Arthritis is caused by a body condition called acidosis; an over acid condition in the body. Excess acid usually settles in the joints, causing inflammation and pain. This excess inhibits the production of natural cortisone, which feeds the adrenal glands and helps the body metabolize proteins.

Measuring acidity
According to the pH (potential of hydrogen) scale; the ideal pH range for humans is between 6.0 and 6.8, mildly acetic. Values below 6.3 are acidic and values above 6.8 are alkaline.

Self-test for acid/base balance
Purchase pH paper from a drugstore and apply saliva and/or urine to the paper. Red litmus paper turns blue in an alkaline medium and blue litmus paper turns red in an acid medium. Be sure to perform the test before eating or at least an hour after eating.

Eliminating low acid or acid absorbing foods:

Eliminate all sugars, white flour products, processed foods which contain chemicals, and high acid foods such as tomatoes and oranges. Also avoid salt, vinegar, mustard, pepper, coffee, black teas, tobacco and alcohol.

Good low acid foods are raw salads, fresh sprouts, pecans, brewer's yeast, wheat germ, and raw vegetables.

Eat Alkaline-Forming Foods:
avocados, corn, dates, fresh coconut, fresh fruits (most), fresh vegetables (most), honey, maple syrup, molasses, raisins, and soy products

Vegetables, especially raw vegetables, balance the acidity and alkali levels in the blood. Although it might seem that citrus fruit would have an acidifying effect on the body, the citric acid they contain actually has an alkalinizing effect in the system.

Low-Level Alkaline-Forming Food:
Almonds, Blackstrap molasses, Brazil nuts Buckwheat Chestnuts Lima beans, Millet, and Soured Dairy Products.

AVOID Acid-Forming Foods:
Alcohol Asparagus Beans Brussels Sprouts Catsup Chickpeas Cocoa Coffee Cornstarch Cranberries Eggs Fish Flour; flour based products Legumes Lentils Meat Milk Mustard Noodles Oatmeal Olives Organ meats Pasta Pepper Plums Poultry Prunes Sauerkraut Shellfish Soft drinks Sugar; all foods with sugar added Tea Vinegar Aspirin, tobacco, and most drugs are also acid forming.

Low-Level Acid-Forming Foods:
Butter, Canned or glazed fruit, Cheeses, Dried coconut, Dried or sulfured Fruit (most) Grains (most), Ice cream, Ice milk, Lamb's quarter's, and Seeds & nuts (most).
